True Purpose of Talk Shows?

Honestly, what is the true purpose of talk shows? What is the history of talk shows? Do they actuallyhelp people?
Anyone with money and slight fame can host a talk show.
The host does not have to be a rocket scientist either.
What is your view of talk shows?
The true purpose is entertainment and making money for the Network.
You DO have to be smart in order to host one.
I like talk shows….especially David Letterman. As Dave says, they don’t give these shows to chimps.
